Why would you want a pet to only live 6 months? Sounds to me that you don't really want a pet. I wish all my pets lived at least 20 years or more. This makes no sense at all to me.
Get any pet, don't feed it or water it and treat it like crap. It'll live for 6 months or less. I really don't think that you're good enough to own an animal.

Why would you want a pet for a limited time only? Is it because you're moving? If so, why not just wait til after the move? If it's commitment problems, adopt a pet at the local zoo and visit it when it suits you. Or visit animals at a local pet shelter. There's no guarantee that your animal will only live for 6 months, no matter what you get. Unless you get a whole successsion of butterflies? they only live 3 days ;)

There are some cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, cows and horses that only live 6 months on this link page. You can even try different breeds until you decide which one you like.

are you not willing to make a commitment??
I see alot of people telling you to get a fish....BUT...I had a fish that lived to be 3 years old. & my cousin used to raise fish that lived even longer....SO...
I'm basicly a cat person....I like the security that a long living pet can give to a friendship. I'm sorry that you want to miss out on that.

Thats a bit sad, to want a pet and wish it will die quick. Anyway, a goldfish doesnt last all that long.

I think you should just get a stuffed animal from the store. When you get sick of it, you can just throw it out, no harm done. really, why would you want a "short term" pet?

i suppose the only thing is a fly as everything should live longer if you look after it. but can i ask why you would want your pet to die so quickly?

i had a goldfish won from the fair that lived till 12 , if you want a short term pet get a snail, very tactile sort of interesting and if it does outlive its usefulness you can return it to the wild. alternatively and a bit more serious wat about fostering
