I saw a post from someone on Flickr whose toddler took permanent marker to her Powerbook. She used rubbing alcohol and got it off.

Do not...I repeat...do not use acetone...it will eat the plastic on the laptop...very strong solveant...not for that use...really, once something like perm marker is used on plastic...there really isn't anything to do to remove it...stuff like Goof Off and other strong solveants ruin the plastic it is used on...if anything...I would try mineral spirits and before I tryed that I would take a little and try it on the bottom of the laptop first to see if it damages and blemishes the plastic before using it on the front or visual part of the laptop!

Try a little bit of vinegar, as long as it is not on the screen. Putting some on the screen may turn it a bit yellow.

if anything maybe paint thinner or solvent. but permanent marker does tend to be its namesake. (permanent)
