please put how this thing has changed the 20th century and onwards.

In my mind, nothing has impacted the C20th more than technological advancements.

It has changed how we operate/function on a day-to-day basis (think of all the mod-cons we now take for granted), how we fight wars (we have taken a great leap from the bayonet days), how we interact with each other (instantenous communication such as phone, fax, internet has made the world a global village)......

Going forward, technology may also be what destroys us if we do not act responsibly....

World War III didn't happen. The fact that the USA and the USSR didn't nuke each other off the face of the Earth allowed the 21st Century to take a whole different shape. Now the only two true "superpowers" are the USA and China. The next few centuries will be interesting indeed!
