Paula and Simon are mostly to blame, they constantly critique the contestants looks weather it be the hair or clothes they are wearing and the viewers are obviously following their lead.

I believe that Antonella was probably axed by the producers of the show, she looked very sad at the beginning of the show last night.

If it were turning into a Beauty Contest, Sajurayryarya (I wish he would go home already) or whatever his name is wouldn't be there, and neither would Chris Sligh (even though I like him).

Or some of the girls...like Stephanie Edwards, or Gina Glocksen.

To be honest with you, I don't think any of the contestants this year are that great looking...

But I do see your point. Especially Simon! He's giving out so many beauty tips lol.

After the Ruben Studdard fiasco they had to say it, if you don't look the part don't apply. Ruben nearly died trying to keep up with his first tour. Singing is a demanding career and appearance is part of that career. But to be honest with you, most of the women are plain looking and most of the guys are 2:00 AM Romeos, guys you take home when they say "Last Call". If this were all about looks then Sabrina and Jared would still be on the show and Lakisha and Melinda would be at home watching as Chris Sligh and Sundance Head are voted off, assuming they ever made it on the show. A lot of prettier people were azed by the judges before this round ever came up, and they could sing too.

The folks who have great voices do need beauty tips if they plan on going far in the music world. The judges point this out to them-in a sometimes strange way.
Paula, Randy, and Simon know who the better singers are and to help them improve also add those beauty tips. has nothing to do with their voice but a lot to do with how they present themselves. Want to be a class act? Then dress the part.
I generally close my eyes to just hear the voices and make my decision that way.
The outcome from last night was the worst yet.

I'd say it turned into a popularity contest. Just like Dancing With The Stars. People are already saying who'll they vote for and the people didn't even dance yet. lol
I think the viewers have a mind of their own for the most part.....but there are so many out there not paying attention to the singers talent.....or dancers talent. They just vote to vote!

Yes - after last night, I am officially going to have my Tues- Thus back to myself now.
I am done wasting my time.
America has sent the best ones home, and we're left with the talentless (Lakisha, Malinda and Blake and Chris are the only ones who should be in it right now.)
Glad antonella's off tho.

p.s. your point about Antonella is a good one. She was crying right from the start -

NO! Last night Antonella & Sabrina were voted off. Both of them are HOT!!! Jared was probably the best looking guy on the show and he is gone.

being pretty is part of the music business, if you're a woman. uncle kracker and kid rock can sing live on national tv even while they look like slobs or just rolled out of bed. but if you're a woman, people tend to judge a lot on how you look, they're just more picky.

that said however, ive seen a few girls on american idol just let their voices do the talking, like lakisha and mandisa.

and btw, i think paula would usually go for her "you look great onstage" if the contestant sucked and she couldnt come up with things to say.

Like Cena cares if human beings impersonate him online. go nuts John C as properly, online each and every physique is in large shape, seems good, is single, has money, etc etc etc If somebody desires to faux they are Cena, I say outstanding on.
