My brother and his wife did everything. They had sex upside down. They timed it based on the books, they cut out all caffine and altered their diets to be exactly what the books said to do. They tried the "if he is active he will have a girl- if he is lazy he will have a boy" method.

They have two boys and have not been able to get pregnant for the last few months because of all the "specific methods"

SO- my guess is that its a great thing to try but if its not timed right and you just happen to ovulate a day earlier than you thought and the male sperm wins the race.... then it does not really matter- you may just end up with more blue and baseballs~

all kind of theories and researches but i really dont know if we should believe in it.
i read a book on fertility and it mentioned that
the closer you are to ovulation day the more the chances are to have a boy, the theory behind was that boy sperm. I dont know how that happens as when i was in school we were taught that men sperm decideds boy or girl if x combines with x of women then a girl and if y of man combines with x of women then boy is born.
If there is any truth in those theories then it means man has x and y cromosomes which are y when they are produced and turn into x with age.
so if you have sex bang on ovulation day the y chromosomes are fertilized before changing to x........and a boy will be born

I don't know if I believe it, but I have heard that. My friend is actually trying that theory out because she wants a girl. If you have sex 2-3 days before you ovulate, you'll be more likely to have a girl because the female sperm swim slower. If you want a boy, you do it right at or just after ovulation time because male sperm are fater swimmers.

I have also heard this. I don't know it to be 100% true but nothing is ever 100% accurate. The reason that I have read it works is not because of slower or faster swimmers but because the sperm that produce female babies live longer in the womans reproductive system. The sperm that produce male babies die off earlier only leaving the female producing sperm to fertilize the egg when in arrives. Again, who knows if it is actually true... it may just be one of those pregnancy myths but I have heard it before. I hope you get a healthy baby no matter what sex it is. Good Luck!!

It is virtually impossible to guarantee a baby of either sex with a natural conception.

So no, I don't believe that timing intercourse to try and conceive either a boy or a girl really works to any degree that would convince me it's a done deal.

There are all sorts of alledged methods out there (some will even cost you money!) that provide information about timing intercourse, sexual positions, abstaining from intercourse for lengths of time, special diets, herbal suppliments, "vaginal enviroment adjustment" aids, along with the "latest scientific research". Really? These people are trying to make a buck.

There is no medical evidence that any of these things actually work. But, there is always someone who will tell you it worked for them, so if it's what you want - give it a shot!

there is information out there that confirms that girls will be conceived if you have sex 2 to 3 days before ovulation, but keep in mind that it´s not 100% accurate.

It is shown that girl sperm live longer then boy sperm so the idea behind it is accurate to an extent. However it is not 100% proof. Some (noticed I said some) men carry more of one type of sperm. My husband and I used Dr.Shuttles book and it worked for us. I can't say if it was the book or just lucky timing. It says up to like 80something% success rate.

I have read in several books that male sperm swim faster but female sperm live longer because they don't get so tired out swimming to the egg. So if she has not ovulated and the male gets there first he will die before he can fertilize the egg. The female sperm will continue her slow but sure swim and be the one to fertilize the egg. I hope this makes sense, I was trying to make it as simple as possible to understand.

The only thing that is going to make you have a girl, is the fathers sperm. The sex of the sperm is what decides what sex the baby is!

Agreed, there is nothing the mom can do to get a girl, the man is solely responsible for the sex of the child, it is his chromosomes that determine it.
