Stimulant is a very general term - muscle stimulants may not effect your levels of "alertness" and improve your reaction times.

Caffeine is a fairly general stimulant but you would need to take it in fairly large doses to get any noticeable improvement in performance.

Note also that caffeine is also a diuretic - it makes you lose body fluid by increasing urine production. This will in turn increase the likelihood of you becoming dehydrated during prolonged sports activity - and that will reduce your performance more than counteracting any stimulant effect.

yes caffeine is a stimulant, in your body there are things called synapsis this is the conection between two neurones (Nerves) caffeine is a drug that speeds up the conection between synapsis which makes you body work faster which then you have a slightly quicker reaction time, there are other drugs which do the same but they are class A drugs such as Cocaine, Speed, Crack and things like that .
