It seems as though you can have £3000 savings before money is taken off your benefits, this is at £250 increments, £1 is taken for each increment. So if you had £3750 savings your benefit would be reduced by £3.
If you have more than £16,000 you can't claim any benefits.

assuming you are refering to benfits in england
for income support the max savings amt for you and a partner (if you have one) is £16000.
not sure if the same figure applies to jobseeker allowance, pension credit and disability allowances
