usually to avoid complications before, during and after the delivery. o.k. there are times when the gyno induces for reason such as, vacations, convenience for the family. yes, that is true. my son works off and asked the md if the labor could be induce so that he could be home to help take care of the baby......it happened.

I was induced 15 days before my EDD. Reason being my baby was fully grown and the only thing that would have happened if stayed on longer was added fat. The weight in ultrasound was also good. My doctor was scared that I would not be able to do vaginal delivery. Had a C-section cos they simply wanted some more bucks. I was half way through with labor pain as well.
The thing about vaccation is also right. either the doc or we need time.

I was induced 2 days before my EDD. My baby was very big (8 pounds 4 ounces) and the doctor wasn't sure I would be able to have a natural birth, but I did !!!

I was induced 1 week before EDD b/c I had high magnesium (which means my kidneys weren't working properly) and I also had pitted edema(too much water retention!!!). My son was very stubborn though, after 14 hrs of that pitocin stuff I only dilated to 4 and he was ascending....not descending!!! I ended up having a c-section, but I know a lot of women who were induced with no issues.

The first time I was overdue. The baby's head was so huge that I ripped from front to back--more stitches than a c-section would have required. So the second and third inducements were both two weeks before my official due date, to catch my big-headed babies when they were still a little smaller. It all went great.

I was induced at 38 weeks because I was having twins and the hospital I was delivering at doesn't allow twin gestations to go past 38 weeks due to the fact that after 37 weeks with twins the risk of still birth increases dramtically.

I was induced so that when my husband got his R&R from Iraq, he could see our son being born. Lucky enough, my EDD was 3 days after my son was born. So it all worked out for everyone. My husband was so happy that he got to see our son being born!!!!!! Good Question!

I was supposed to be induced two weeks before my due date due to gestational diabetes, but ended up needing a c-section.

I had pre-eclampsia, and after several days in the hospital with very high blood pressure and spilling protein, they decided to induce a month early.

I didn't want to have her on Christmas Day. I was due on the 21st with no signs of labor. So we induced.
