Subject: The perversity of Windows Vista, the latest operating system of Microsoft, is stuffed with systems protection anti-copy and blocking of contents, following the pressures of certain companies like the MPAA, the RAA or the SGAE and under pretext of fight the hacking. These systems are integrated in the basic programming of the system that makes them very difficult to remove or short cut. The result is that if you install Windows Vista or if you buy a PC where Windows Vista is already preinstalled, you can no more view or record videos nor to listen to or record music downloaded on Internet. Most serious is that, in many cases, you will not be able copy even if you bought, in all legality, the contents, because the DRM (protection system of the royalties) integrated does not allow, for example, that you can record a song or a DVD ( bought legally ) on your MP3, nor can you record a selection of songs (bought legally) for CD of your car. And often, you will not be able to record a film, (bought legally), on your computer or unspecified media other than a specific engraver authorized by Microsoft and the manufacturers of contents. If you try to do it, the recording is of bad quality or simply impossible. The only sure solution to fight against this abuse is not to install Windows Vista and to refuse any PC which they try to sell to you with Windows Vista preinstalled. Continue to use your Windows XP or plan to pass to an operational system "free" like Linux.

Personally unless you have a very new (less than 3-6 months old) I wouldn't even consider it. I beta tested Vista from the start using a machine that even now is only 6 months old and have had numerous issues with internal hardware e.g. bluetooth/wireless as well as peripherals. Before doing anything dowload the Vista Upgrade Advisor program from Microsoft, it will tell you how Vista will run on your machine, the link is http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx

Since its an upgrade, I wouldn't recommend it. If you link a lot of pheripherals to your computer, Vista may not work well with them. Eg, Ipods, camera phones, printers, scanners, graphics card drivers taht are not yet optimized etc.
Vista would be great for a new comer to computers who wouldn't use the computer in addition to other devices but I wouldn't recommend it as an upgrade unless ya don't mind missing out on music from your portable mp3, pictures from your camera, etc..

Legion. iPod, driver, software compatibility problems. Normally wait for SP1 of a new MS product, with Vista this is looking like SP2 or SP3 before you upgrade.
