There is a train from Brisbane to Longreach.

The Spirit of the Outback follows Queensland's coastline from Brisbane to Rockhampton, before heading west through Blackwater, Emerald and Barcaldine, until it reaches Longreach.
With a connecting coach service to Winton.

Twice weekly departures from Brisbane on Tuesdays and Saturdays; and from Longreach on Mondays and Thursdays.
