In reality the mouse is, because they know they're pests and try to stay out of sight. Cats are selfish pests and they flaunt it in front of humans, as if to dare them to do anything about it....

The Mouse...
since it knows that the cat is stronger, and will eat it up....
that is why it multiplies at a terrific rate, by producing babies thick and fast.... two mice can become a hundred thousand in a matter of two years !!
In future there may be a shortage of cats....... but there shall never be a shortage of rats !!
