If they could find out where the virus originated then a lot of hackers would be in jail. Microsoft had put a $250,000 reward for info on the creator of the Netsky virus (I think it was this one). A friend of the 19 year old guy in Germany turned him in for the reward. So tracking down where a virus came from is impossible.

But you can google a virus name and find out what it is and whereabouts is is purported to come from. Most viruses are attached to mail or strange emails you open up. I know a lot were attached to porn site email seen in the chat rooms I went too. I learned this the hard way. I did not have Norton's antivirus at the time. Just the FREE stuff, which would take the virus out of the computer. I lived in a world of constant problems and contant RECOVERIES, until I got Norton's.

But when you get a virus, it is usually from that strange email you may have opened up. I do not open up the emails from women who have said they saw my name on the Yahoo list. Those were the usual porn site junk mail. And do not open up the ones with the winnings as these are scams too. I like the one from Coaca cola lottery. The average person may overlook the misspelling and see Coca Cola instead. And then Nortons will not open up email attachements that have viruses in them. Some have them attached to emails as pictures or whatever.

use a virus scanner to find out the name of the virus then google the name and there will be numerous websites which tell you the characteristics of the virus sometimes including its origin (if its known)

ask it who its been with then send a letter to every other pc that shared the love yours has to offer..or your anti virus software may have quarantined it and you may be able to find out there.
