In my experience (living in Manchester!) the split was 50/50. I did notice that the poorer areas in Manchester had a higher percentage of City supporters, but this is cancelled out by the higher percentage of United fans in the more well off areas.

I suspect that if we included Salford, then perhaps City might just tip the scales, but I wouldn't have said it was a noticable difference.

Look at the Manchester United Fan! Why do you want to support a club that filled with fans that doesn't give credit to the club. Most of them are just glory hunters and most of them stay outside of manchester!

I ask my frens this why do you support Man Utd, most of them reply the days when they won the treble! But when i ask them why Man Utd lost to a certain team. All of the sudden, they start blaming the Manager of his tactics!! The Fan are GLORY HUNTERS! Passionate fan will support the team all the way even though they lost! A season ago, i heard like SACK Sir Alex F.! Now i hear, "Don't Retired Yet, Be Man Utd Manager Forever!"

That's why the people living in Manchester rather support City. Not because of reputation, just because Manchester City is not full of GLORY HUNTERS!

I'm from Manchester (Salford actually) although I don't live there anymore and I'm a city fan although most of my friends support United and everyone who lives in my house support United (Yes my own flesh and blood see me as a dissapointment, supporting City is on a par with being Gay in my house lol), the area where I used to live (Worsley) was mainly United fans though. I always hear this shite from people in London who have probably never been to MCR, don't just jump on bandwagons, IT'S NOT BIG AND IT'S NOT CLEVER.

Ho,Ho, Ho. I've had a really good chuckle at the answers from the anyone but United brigade. You pathetic City (?? supporters ??) can't even be bothered to go to watch your team and so have to rely on the old standby of being in the city in an attempt to justify their team's miserable existence. Well, United aren't in the city of Manchester, but they started off life there even before City, and they are top of the Prem, are likely to remain so and could possibly do the treble again !!!.
Suck on that.

They don't, but a reason why it may appear this way is because Maine Road (City's old ground) was located off Yew Tree Road, which is a 10 minute walk from Manchester Oxford Road station (i.e. VERY near the city centre in Manchester), while Old Trafford is about 6 miles out of the city centre.

it somewhat is a not something remark. supply it some years and guy United will finally end up being OWNED by using Manchester city. Or the banks. guy Utd, city's feeder club. "connect city and you're ineffective" Ahh Manchester United supporters. The friendly, LIKEABLE followers. edit: you be responsive to something Krishnan, in ALL my conversations with Tevez he forgot to show it.

I think it's 50/50. I have 2 best mates living in England. One is in Salford and the other on is in Bury. The one in Salford is a City fan and the other on is a United fan.

As I live in manchester I will tell you how it is, United sell more shirts in manchester But if you look at the address of any united season ticket holder most are not from manchester! All my mates are United fans but never been to old trafford??? most city fans have been to see their team play at the stadium. Too many people follow united because their glory hunters, City fans are real Football fans, would united get 38000 people coming to watch them in the 3 tier of english football NO! Also Manchester City is the only football team to come from Manchester! Change the name of your team to trafford united and to all you united fans who dont know where Trafford is because you have never been to manchester its in Greater manchester.

They don't, it's just an urban myth. Manyoo have a larger fanbase than City so if you took a cross section of fans on match day for example @ OT you'd get people from Manc, China etct, etc whereas if you did the same at C.O.M Stadium about 99% would be mancs - not surprising really I mean you'd have to be daft in the head to travel from anywhere outside of Manchester to watch Shitty, oops I meant City! lol!
