Now *you* need to get your butt in gear and figure out *how* I got that before your next math test ☺

= (9.x³ - 21.x² - 14.x - 2) / (3x + 1)
Now 3x + 1 = 3[ x - (- 1/3) ]
Let A = (9x³ - 21.x² - 14.x - 2) / 3.[ x - (-1/3) ]

Use synthetic division to divide by x - (-1/3):-

(- 1/3)-----9------ -21------ -14------- - 2
-------------------- - 3---------- 8--------- 2
-------------9------ -24------ -6---------- 0

A = (1/3).(9x² - 24 x - 6)
A = 3x² - 8x - 2

Check:-
(9x + 3).(3x² - 8x + 2) = 27x³ - 63x² - 42x - 6 (as required)
