Yes, foreign languages are academic subjects, too. They are part of the humanities, whereas physics, biology, etc. are part of the natural sciences.

The Arts are academic subjects and so are Languages. Maths, Physics, Biology would be classified under sciences.

Foreign languages are absolutely academic subjects. And so are the social sciences and English literature--not just math/science.

yes,foreign languages are academic subject! if we did not learn it in school,how are we going to communicate with people? for example,the english,if we learn english,we might able to communicate with most of the people in the world!!!!

depends on the context you're talking about... t, yes, they are academic sechnicallyubjects, but if your state doesn't have academic standards in place - meaning students have to be proficient at a certain level, by a certain grade, then languages are more of a supplemental subject.
