becaue we love people who portray us. homer is a lazy fat *** man, a lot like many of our country's dads. have irritating children which are us, we admit it or not.
plus, it is funny. and well, we love things that make us laugh, right?

It's more of a reflection of real life than any other cartoon. Married with kids, a boring job with no prospect of promotion, going home from work to the pub, barely having enough money to pay bills etc. All of this done with a certain tongue-in-cheek humour and little funny puns that only adults can pick up on. Absolutely fantastic comedy. Long live the Simpsons.

It's just a work of genius! I find the humour very very intelligent and every episode is unique and quirky! The characters have been very cleverly developed. I still think that you just can't beat British humour, but The Simpsons is just too clever, it might just beat any British comedy ever!

Because they are funny, stupid, crude, and idiotic. It also gives some people a way to forget about what might be happening or they might make fun of something really serious and make it sound cool!
