Simply put :NO!! The fabric on most wedding dresses is far to fragile to launder at home. Also many times the fabric may have embellishments in it (sequins , beading , lace ) that requires the special attention of a trained professional. Taking it to the cleaners may be expensive , but you get what you pay for. Look into their insurance/ reimbursement policy. If they don't offer reimbursement for damaged garments ( damaged by them ) take your business someplace else. Your wedding dress is far too important to risk damaging by mistreatment by you or someone Else. Any cleaners worth their name will gladly offer you the replacement value or comparable reimbursement for any wrong doings on their part. Hope this as some help to you.

don't try it. I had a small spot on my wedding dress that I tried to take out the day before my wedding. I made a huge yellow spot on it and had to search high and low to find someone who would clean it for me. I had to pay $100 but at least it was ready the day of my wedding. I was a nervous wreck though.
If I were you, I would shop more prices to have it cleaned and make sure they pack it in blue paper if you are going to store it. This will keep it from turning yellow on you.

After my gf told me to wash with our programmable washing machine I am the total expert :

On my washing machine there is a sign with a sheep I draw it to the left then there are some numbers I put on 40 - (phps it 40 yrds or rounds per minute).
Then to start this machine I have to press a button with a hand on it three or four times

Personally, I'd pay the money. If you really want to keep the wedding dress then I wouldn't risk ruining it by trying to clean it yourself.
