Frankly I'm not certain of who my parents vote for in any election now , or when I was growing up. It's not my business, & they never imposed their views upon me.

I vote for the candidate who has VIABLE proposals , while also adhering to my expectation that someone is running FOR an elected office, not AGAINST someone else.

The only reason party plays a role is because I must declare one to vote in the primary.

Neither

I tend to vote republican more often than democrat because the republicans tend to have what I think are better ideas.

If given a choice of Kerry or Bush again... I'd vote Bush... because I still think Kerry is a worse choice.

Hopefully someone other than Hillary the securities fraud queen and Obama, the admitted cocain user will get on the Democrat side of the ballot. I'm tempted to change registration to Democrat just to vote against those 2 in the primaries.

We haven't had a decent person to choose from on the presidential ballot since Ronald Reagan.

you should notice that unemployment is down and inflation is nearly 0... unlike under Clinton. So Bush hasn't done too bad about the economy.

Note that almost all congressmen voted in favor of going into Iraq. There was no real opposition to it in this country until weeks afterward.

Once in.. there was no turning back. Unless you want to see worse bloodshed due to not training a defensive and police force there first...

And go ahead and complain about 3200 casualties in 3+ years... we have over 40,000 deaths due to DUI's in the US EVERY year. Between DUI's, other car accidents, murder, training accidents and other causes of death a soldier faces in the US, they are actually pretty safe over there....

Personally speaking my family is big into politics local, state, and national. I made the decision to become republican in high school because of my views and morals. However, just because I am a republican doesn't mean that I agree with every republicans views and beliefs. The great thing about politics is that you can be involved and you can pick willingly what to believe however the downside is not everyone will always agree with you, party lines or non party lines. It is also important to note that just because you identify with a certain party gives you no contract that says you have to vote for them, split your ticket and vote for the person not necessarily the party. So in short I just chose the saying hung like a republican because I better identify with them.

How I vote has nothing to do with how my parents voted. I could not tell you how they voted I have no idea. I vote for the person running for office. I look at their ideas. I listen to what they say. If all I hear is negative things about their opponent then I take a closer look at the opponent. I would never just vote a straight ticket as I know I do not agree with every candidate of either party. I also do not vote on just one issue. I try to vote for the person I think will do the best job.

I am going to vote for who I think will unite this country more instead of having a divisive government like we do now. Also, more than likely I will vote Democrat because of the Supreme Court nominees. I don't like any one party controlling all three branches of government, but we need some moderation in the Supreme Court.

My father used to vote democrat, as he is a union worker. After Clinton shipped tens of thousands of jobs out of the US he began voting against the dems.

Personally, I vote for whomever will do the best job. Thats exactly why I voted for President Bush during the last 2 elections. He has taken the war to the enemy and prevented further attacks on US soil (while clinton stood by after the first WTC bombing and waited for another). If the dems have their way, we will allow the enemy to build a massive war machine and resume attacks on US soil.

It is dumb for anyone to vote loyally with one party JUST because your parents did the same. It makes far more sense to say that, given the way that your parents raised you, they instilled in you the same values as they had and thus you chose to identify with the same party that they did. Lots of people DO vote differently than their parents did, but such persons are consciously rejecting their parents' values.

I am your parents age and I am a republican because I go to a lot of trouble to know what each party and party member stands for. I know the history of the parties and the present. If you are still young enough to even care what your parents politics are you are probably not informed enough to know why you vote the way you do.
