I would like to have a bit of a career break/ change of location and I am a UK citizen. I would like to work in the US for a while or even permanatly, can anyone give me any advice on how to go about it? Do I apply for jobs from here? Pack my bags and go on a visa and see if I can find work? I'v also heard of J-1 carrer training where I would be able to work for 12 months. Can anyone offer me any advice? has anyone done this themselves?

to work in the US the best option is to apply for a jbo where you have the skills that are needed, and they offer you a working visa...

I suggest you look on monster.com and post your cv.

good luck

Get employed with a cruise company. They pay the travel for you and you get time ashore in lots of different ports.

Log onto their websites and access their vacancies pages. There are many many companies, apply to them all and one of them will call .... I promise!

They will advise you on visas. My husband did it (we're from Cornwall) and I get to travel with him for free!!!

Good luck

depens what you wanna do, i worked in chicago for a year as an au pair - they take male and female as long as you can drive. they pay for flights and everything!!! you get paid while there and also get funding to attend a couple of college courses.

Easier if you have someone there. They can sponsor you and makes it easier for the green card etc.
