when we recall a conversation we think of what words were said...do deaf people see little hands moving about?

I think that's actually quite a good question! Perhaps it depends on the type of memory we have. I'm not personally deaf, but I've got a very visual memory and as well as recalling words that were said in a conversation, I will also remember the other persons' facial expression (grimacing, cheeky grin, blinking etc) maybe their hand movements, fiddling with their hair, tone of voice. So therefore I would imagine that deaf people remember a variety of things, such as lip movements and all of the non verbal stuff that I've described but to a larger intensity!

u know what..i am deaf and have never even thought about it..i just asked my partner who is deaf too and he hasnt either.. i would say its a mixture of both..deaf people still talk,it may not be clear to you but to us we know exactly what we are saying..it also depends who the conversation was with..if sign language was used it will be remembered that way if it was spoken that will be remembered as spoken..hope this helps.
