Definitely Culture... Language can be translated, Religion can be grasped, but culture is understanding another person's mindset. Empathizing with another person's mode of living can be difficult for most people. In ancient Greece and Japan, suicide did not have a negative stigma, so seeing how someone could talk so candidly about suicide some would say that they would HAVE to be depressed/crazy/evil. That's just one example look throughout history at cultural blunders that could have caused hostilities.
Coming in at a close second would be money. Nothing shows a social gap quite like the difference of bank statements between Bill Gates and you.

None of the above suggestions. It is hatred and racism that keeps people apart and it is the cause of of all the wars ever fought in this world.I can learn about your culture and embrace it,i can embrace your religion and adopt it and I can learn your language and speak it as iam doing now very peacefully and comfortably.

I know this sounds like a dumb answer, but I believe geographical distance is a big factor. They found that out during WW II for example when all those US servicemen arrived in England and the Brits found them "overpaid, oversexed and over here".

One's own ego and pride. Failing to accept that we are all the same and all have the same desires to pursue happiness. I can accept anyones cultures, language, and religions even if I don't understand them. What I will not accept is xenophobia and hatred.

language first... culture second (including economic class)... religion third. Religion is a big part of it, but you have to get past the first two for it to even matter... as least usually.
