Whats your opinion? I for one am tired of all the Richard Gere comments from dopes when I say I have gerbils. This was a stupid urban legend to begin with and even if it were true not everyone who owned a gerbil would do that. I asked a question on Yahoo about something that someone didnt like and he sent an e-mail to me making fun of my screen-name and the fact I have gerbils as pet. So does it bother you as a gerbil owner that people dont respect you and your choice of pets.Just wondering

He says no, other people's rude remarks about his relationship with me do not bother him.
Assuming your question is sincere:
Sometimes people find it very strange that an adult, especially a woman, would own a rodent instead of a cat or a dog. Cats are ok and I like dogs, but my friends call me the Gerbil Whisperer for a reason. I'm good with them. All animals need loving homes where they will be completely understood.
Love is not wasted just because the life you care for weighs 2 and 1/2 ounces instead of 10 pounds. Gerbils are extremely incredible little creatures with amazing features, quirky habits, and a ton of individual personality.

Killer, my gerbil who is now in gerbil heaven chewing up every thing, is not why people look down on me for my choice in pets, the fact that I have a Pit bull, does. Just ignore them and think of yourself as a better person for knowing what they do not.

yes , is dose at times . cause some people are sick and do things like that with there pets dose not mean all people do that . and i get comments not only about my gerbil Fuzz , but from pit bull racist people too . some people are just ignorant . and the world will all ways be that way .
all i can say is ignore it . and keep ya head up

I don't own a gerbil but if some idiot who has nothing better to do and is obviously immature you don't need to bother or worry what he thinks as long as you know your love for the animal is genuine forget what the jerk said and forget whatever negative things anyone else has to say.
