His hourly charging fee, whether that fee applies only to work conducted by himself, or whether it extends to work done by legal executives, articled clerks, etc.: how long he reckons it is going to take to sort out the matter with which you are concerned and whether it is likely to involve court appearances, in which case will you incur additional expenses by having to employ counsel; whether the matter under consideration is so abstruse as to be likely to require counsel's opinion....
It all depends on why you are consulting this lawyer in the first place.

it would depend on the case. but I would ask about his qualifications, and how much experience he has, and what's his win- lose percentage
