I'd confront him and ask why is he is doing it.
Then I'd go see the people who he asked and see what they said.
If they are your friends, you'd think that they would ignore him otherwise that is very low.
Sit down with him and and just talk about what has been going on.
I'm sure it will all work out.

I think I would be a just a touch upset(alot). I wouldn't consider all his sneaking behind your back very trustworthy. Sounds like the type who would pull the "if you loved me" routine. You ought to find someone who doesn't think with his penis all the time.
