I brought an item from a friend and then decided against it. I don't have the item, but he hasn't paid me my money back - and its actually quite a lot and i can't afford to lose it. Our friendship has hit the rocks over this and he refuses to even talk to me let alone give me a refund. What legal avenues are there available to me in the UK to rectify this? Thanks

Ok you said in your first question that you didn't have the item...

This is always the problem with doing business with a friend. He is flatout trying to crap you over. I doubt there is much you can do.

My advice, since you know he isn't going to give you the money, is demand the item...

did you have the item? did you sell the item? if either of those are true then no you don't have any legal avenues and he has every right to keep the money

Return the item and demand for a reimbursement of the amount you paid. If this is not complied, file a case in the small claims court so that your friend will be compelled to pay you.
