It would take a term paper several pages long to answer that question definitively. On a personal level, one learns true feelings, ways we hurt ourselves and why, how we honestly feel about our relationships, and our real goals and how to obtain them. Even in our dreams our subconscious disguises their real meaning. Most of us go through life trying not to know how we feel. We fear there is some dark horrible act we did or want to do. Therapy helps us get to the root of our feelings. Taking a class in psychology mostly teaches us the various forms of therapy and by whom...... usually beginning with Freud.
