Several times a week I can smell that acrid, yet cloyingly sweet, smell of marijuana being blown into my apartment from the old gas heating system that apparently leaks air between my apartment and my neighbor's. I am a drug-free individual in the midst of a job hunt, for whom any job offer will likely require a drug test. Is there any possibility that the amount of residual pot smoke being blown through my air ducts might cause me to fail a drug test?

Passive inhalation of marijuana. In general, routine passive exposure to marijuana smoke will not result in a positive result for carboxy-THC. Only under unrealistic conditions, a person may test positive for carboxy-THC, but concentrations are generally below the routine cut off levels.

I don't have an answer for you. But u could answer that question for yourself. If you can afford it you can go to walmart and buy at home drug tests for about $25-$35. At our walmart they sell 2 different kinds. The cheaper is a dip stick the other you send a sample into a place that will give you your results in a week or two. They are in the pharmacy section. Our store used to keep them on the shelf but later moved them behind the counter as ppl were stealing them. I also had a friend have herself tested at our local hospital for about $75. Because of doctor patient confidentiality the results of the tests could not be disclosed to authorities. I can't remember how long it took for the results at the hospital.

you can always go to your Private doctor to give you a drug test to find out, but also ask your doctor and see what he/she says...:)

I would rather be safe then sorry...

It could if it's been happening over a period of time. I suggest you talk to the management where you live. They 'll probably be discreet and not mention your name you have the right to not have to deal with this situation.
