i just got a new k6 gixer thou and traded in my k5 750 and both are awsome bikes but the thou is just the dogs bollox and a great handling bike but be prepared to play with the front if you get one as they tend to push on the front when your making quick progress.(drop the front by 5mil)
dont bother with R1's get a bike with some midrange my 750 leaves R1's behind and that was in a straight line too.
if you do get a gixer invest in the yoshi road can and take baffle out and put a piper cross filter on it and you wont need a power commander for this either. the midrange grant is better which takes some doing considering the gixer thou has plenty of it.

I had an original Ducati 750 Imola and the new one looks just as fantastic and sounds gorgeous. Buy a big bike with your heart and eyes and forget the statistics

wow ....with a budget like that ...you can get pretty much whatever you want.... I'd personally buy 2 used bikes.... perhaps something sporty cbr .... gsxr ... and a supermotard...ccm ...ktm... I've never heard anyone complaining about ''having too many bikes in the garage'' .... you never know when you might feel like a change ............

i second the busa or get you a gsxr1000 used and still have enough money to trick it out to fit your style of custom paint chrome helmet to match etc etc... but what ever you decide always wear a helmet and proper riding gear with gloves have picked some framunda cheese from my arms i don't recommend it to anyone SAFE RIDING AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION
