I have been offered two cleaning jobs once a week from two different family members. Since this is a new type of work I am starting, I do not know what to charge them. It would included, but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, picking up, mopping the floors, cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom. One family member is not as neat as the other and will take more time. He also has a bath and 1/2. The latter one I was just speaking of has offered me $40/week and asked if that was enough. The other has not mentioned a price. What is the average amount paid for housecleaning?

In our area 40$ per week is comparable. Usually it is 10$ per hour. One hint: A lady told me that she started charging by the hour, and then wished she had just charged by the week. In other words, the first few weeks she made $70-$80 per week because she took a while to get things in order. After that she only took 3-4 hours to clean up and made $30-$40 dollars. Then charge extra for big jobs.

I have been cleaning fo 10 years. I live in a small town in Illinois, the going rate is 10$ an hour. For that reason, I drive 20 miles, to Peoria, to work. When I start a new job, I charge 20$ an hour the first time. If it takes me 3 hours the first time, then the charge will always be 60$. But, after I get the house under control and get a system down, It never takes me as long as the first time, so I generally average 25$ to $30 per hour. Also, this will give you a window of time to do extras that don't need to be done every time, but should be done periodically. Such as vacuum and rotate couch cusions, etc. I do NOT do laundry! Be careful cleaning for family members!

It's about $12 an hour in Utah. More if the family is rich. Anyway, charge per hour or a rate that you think is fair for the amount of work you will do. Don't let them rip you off!!!! They pay cleaning companies about $20 an hour and then the company pays the employee about $8-$10 an hour.

You have not mention how many days a week you
have to work. It would be better if you get an agreed
hour a day, rather than week basis. 8 to10 USD an hour
is more realistic demand depending upon the city, where
the work is involved.

It really depends on the area you live in, the size of the house and frequency of cleaning. I live in Denver and I have a maid service that comes by every other week. They do all the things you would be doing and it costs me $50.00 each time. I live in a two bedroom, one bath townhouse.
