most people who are cynical and/or rude are that way because they don't like themselves even though they try to blame it on things that have happened to them in their pasts, or because of how they have been treated by others. It boils down to they have to like themselves and make their own happiness or they won't like anyone or anything else.

People are rude because they are only focused on themselves. Our culture has taught them that they are all that matters. I don't know why everyone else is cynical, but I am because I work in a hospital and I face death every day. After a while, you stop hoping for a cure and start hoping for anything but what your patients are going through.

We live in a culture that is cynical and rude....everything is judged. Everything is remembered and put in that little storage bank called our brain. We are so consumed by our own worries and fears we forget about other people's feelings except our own. The media, the news, and our expectations of EVERY person out there is just so high that we forget that noone is perfect. Being highly strung is normal in today's society. Of course thats not a good thing. But regretfully is now the trend.

There are cynical people even in the poorest countries of the world.
In general, I think it is a defense mechanism so they don't have to show their real emotions. Most likely, they had a very bad upbringing or were only exposed to horrible situations in life therefore, they don't know any better. But if you encounter very often these kind of people, avoid them or ignore them and their opinions.

Well, you just get people like that everywhere, people who just want to be jerks.
They wouldn't know a good gesture if it kicked them in the face.
