It's Latin, it means "around about" so circa £30k could mean anywhere between £28K and £32K for example.

Hi ALW, The term "circa" simply means around. so if the salary is circa £30,000 you should be able to comfortably allow from £28k to £32k. This is only an example though.

In this context, - to do with MONEY, - "CIRCA" means the same as "IN THE REGION OF", or "AROUND"! For example, you may apply, for a job, where the salary, is "CIRCA £15,000 PER ANNUM", - which means, that, EXACT salary is undecided, but, that it will be "AROUND", or "IN THE REGION OF", £15,000 per YEAR!
