I played for this little christian league because i dont go to school and i love basketball. i need to play it everyday. its a drug to me, and im hooked. the seasons over for my team, but im joining another christian team that is going to be still playing. i talked to the coach and he said i could be on the team because they needed work and people told him that i was good. is there any way i could be spotted by a scout knowing that i dont go to school. im not being cocky or nothing but im literatly one of the best 16 year olds where i live. i want to play in the NBA. i dont want to play in the nba because of the money. if i had th chance to play in the nba, but i had to play for free and for the love of the game, i would. your chances are just about zero.

I think in the history of the NBA, just one playground player has ever made it.

And he is just a roll player sitting the bench.

Anything's possible man. Even if you're not in school, you can still make it in the big leagues and the NBA.

Look at Ben Wallace. He was undrafted yet he was seen by a scout who worked for an NBA team (forgot which team though). The scout was impressed with Ben's skills, hustle, drive, and passion for the game that he recommended Ben Wallace to the NBA team's representative.

Note: Get a good education first man. Once you're age catches up with you, you're going down fast. At least with an education, a lot of doors can be opened for you. Besides, the NBA has a new rule on drafting young players.

There is always a chance. How you get spotted is up to you. Just work hard and play to the fullest everytime.

First off, 15.4 ppg in a Christian league is not very impressive. The top high school players average well above that, and they are playing against REAL competition. If you don't believe me, just take a look at a college basketball recruiting page and see what kind of numbers those players are posting.

I'm not sure from your question if you are home-schooling or are just a drop-out. Either way, your best bet is to GO TO HIGH SCHOOL. Join the team. But also, STUDY, so you can go to college. If you actually are good, you'll get recruited by colleges, but if that doesn't happen, you can do one of two things - either go to a smaller school and be the star, or go to a big school and try to be a walk-on. Good luck.

son, please return to school. i love the game too, and i have loved playing it for 30 years. today i often think back to what i could have done to help my dream to be a ball player materialize, and i come to this conclusion.... i was a ball player. the only difference is that i didn't play in the NBA. i played in countless leagues, tournaments, and pick-up games. when you truly play for the love, you never have to worry about scouts. at 16 years old, your only major concern is school. every athlete is one injury away from retirement as a player. that's reality. if you take a long hard look in the mirror, you will realize that you've been blessed with more than just basketball. chances are you have more gifts or talents that you haven't even tapped into yet. if you truly love the game, then that love will not die just because you go to school. take that love and combine it with common sense and then it may take you a very long way. God bless you.

Im 49 yrs old, and I thought school was the worse thing on earth...lol
But to be honest, if this is something you want in life, to be a pro basketball player, spotted as u say, then ur best chance is by getting back in school, you are still young and you can do it if you set your mind to it. I hated school, it was a drag,
but loved Basketball and Football, and thats what kept me in. After school tho, I went with my first love, and that was the Marines, so didnt go pro in sports, and too old now....lol
But you have your whole life ahead of you, the choice is in your hands alone on what you want to do with it, and if getting into Basketball is your dream, then go for it, no one can stop you, but sometimes u gotta do the ugly to get to the goods... School...
I wish you luck in whatever you do...

I think you need to go to school..scouts dont look for kids who only play ball you know..having a good family background and education is also a plus.. and are you sure a million dollar contract wouldnt make you happy?? There is more to life than basketball so incase you cant make it in the collegiate-pro levels..education is always there to save you..GOOD LUCK in your career!!!

No. Because before you can reach the NBA you must atleast have finished high school. But AND 1 can accept you though. Thats where most of the uneducated great players go.

Engineering isnt a bad fall back plan....But do you have any idea how hard engineering is? Especially since your not in school. The best thing would be to get back in school and hit the books.....

No school, no future. Or you take the JC route. If not, you'll be forever talking about, "When I was young, I was really good..." As Al Bundy often states, "I scored 4 touchdowns at Polk High."
