My brother had an undescended testicle, and I still remember being in the doctor's surgery at the age of 3 or 4, when my mother spoke to the doctor about it, before he had the procedure performed to correct the condition, so get him to a doctor soon!

Yes it is normal to have one testis. It is better that you detected early. The condition is called Ectopic or Undescended testis. At birth the testis migrate from abdomen to scrotum, bur some times one testis stays in abdomen or in the inguinal canal. This ectopic testis is to be located and by surgery pulled in to the scrotum. It is said if it is not done timely then at later age there are chances of cancer in undescended testis...consult a urologist.

No, you are to have two. Undescended testes is more common than you realize. My son had that and after a year, had a small operation to pull it down.

True, you only need one to have children, but didn't his pediatrician have something to say about this?

he likely has another that is still up inside his body cavity, you can take him to the doctor and he can xray him to find out, rick had one that stayed in his body cavity and he had to have it surgically removed as it got all twisted inside him, he functioned fine after that and had two sons and 3 wives and im his second girlfriend since his last divorce, and at 75 he functions just fine with one.

It is highly unlikely that he only has one. It is however relatively common for one not to drop. It is almost certainly lodged within his body.

A doctor can advise on how this can be remedied and often the procedure does not require surgery.

You should probably see a doctor- I bet he has two- its just not dropped- A doctor can tell for sure- It is not unhealthy for him to only have one but it may be harder for him when he hits puberty- if his freinds find out kids can be cruel.
