My sister is becoming a cross stitch freak and every little spare time she has you will find it with her tools in a corner somewhere working on cross stitch.

I would like to create a pattern for her birthday, with a design that I made especially for her.

Can anyone suggest what should I do. Maybe there is some online to that converts pictures into patterns....

I have the HobbyWare beginner program and it's fun to play with. I like the idea of getting the program, making your own design and then passing on both as the present. I would have loved a present like that.

But if you want to make your design something like a portrait, the program you need is a bit more expensive than the starter one. If you're not wanting to spend that much money you can usually find a package at craft stores like Micheal's, AC Moore and JoAnn's Fabrics that lets you mail in a photo and they send back a chart.

Or, you could buy the software at a craft store, convert the pix you want using the software, then give her the converted pic and the software for her bday!
