Can wood really chuck? Is this a hypothetical phrase? What is the significance to the man "Chuck" portrayed in this riddle, and the fact that he is physically working with an object that coincidentally had the same pronounciation as his own name?
Can someone help me figure out this masterpiece of a riddle that boggles me so?!

In so far as you are referring to the modern woodchuck and not it's original medieval counterpart, the answer to the question is quite simple. In today's current marketplace climate, the trending toward the hitherto aforementioned "chunking" of wood by said woodchuck would be determined by who and where Woodchuck Ltd Inc. outsourced the actual chucking to.

So, perhaps then, the question should be phrased in the following manner " How much wood would a platypus chuck, if a platypus could chuck wood?"

Of course, this enquiry would be contigent on the exchange rate of the Australian dollar combined with the softwood subsidies on chucked wood on any given day the the chuck may have taken place. (To be authenticated by the Australian Ecomnomic Council at upon the completion of the proper paperwork)

Please note, at the time of printing, the platypi union had declared a work stoppage over issues of unsafe chucking in the workplace. Please stay tuned for further updates.

its actually a woodchuck not just a wood and it really depends on the age and weight.Woodchucks are very hard to find, being a burrowing marmot found in the nether regions of America.I don't think their really into chucking wood. They are also called a ground hog and they don't like being called chuck....
