I've been seeing alot of the Am I Gay or Am I Bi questions lately. Which I find very strange. So I just thought I'd clear things up for those people that seemed to be confused.

If you like sex with the same gender: you are gay
If you like sex with a different gender: you are straight
If you like sex with both genders: you are bisexual

Lets also keep in mind, people that are confused, that people of both genders are allowed to find the same sex attractive. That does not make you gay. That was a real question. Any thoughts? Anything to add to help the sheltered confused people?

I saw sexuality explained in a sex ed book as a sliding scale from totally hetero-on one end of the scale through attracted and sexual with both sexes to attracted and sexual with the same sex only . Written by a woman who has been married but now identifies as lesbian Seems to make sense !?
Maybe there is a higher percentage of bisexual people than assumed by many and this has given rise to the myth of homosexuality being a choice ??? Just a thought !!

Thought I'd answer your general explanation with a general question !!!

Yes. Gay people are those who are sexually attracted to members of their same sex. Bisexual people are sexually attracted (at some level) to members of both sexes. Attraction and thought comes before behavior.

Not everyone who comes in here is knowledgeable about sexual orientation. They feel often feel ill at ease discussing it in person with straight friends and family so come here first. When the questions they have are repeated over and over, it is similar to newcomers trying to find out information on a group they are interested in joining. They don't know the answers and believe we might have the answers for them -- or at least point them in the right direction.

I think at times, we provide them with some semblance of peace of mind.

Is it a weird area and there isn't a choice involved. Married twice, I am completely attracted to women on an emotional level, but I am gay. So that question will continue to pop up. It comes down to the individual and sometimes, sexual preference--what turns you on?

hmm i dont quite understand the need for people to clarify their sexual preferance, cant they just continue life as best they can acting on impulse with such things, and asking other people to answer their questions that only they need the answer to is a little silly. but then iv always known about myself i never had the question is it right to feel like this, because i didnt care, i am me and i feel in such a way.

Actually, there's much more to human sexuality than sex. There's also love. Sex is but a small part of one's life.

we have found that for many who are not that knowledgeable about sexuality in the first place, that they believe that there are only 2 choices; you are either str8 or you are gay and are not aware that there is a very large middle ground: bisexual.
