Seems to be a bit illogical to not have bigger house cats the size of large dogs.

Have you ever met a cat, domestic or otherwise that does exactly what it's told, when it's told evey single time?? I doubt it, cat's don't have the same loyalties as dogs do, if they need to they know they can provide for themselves and they don't need to rely on humans. Large domestic cats can be trained, yes but they are still kept in cages at night for their own and human protection. They are dangerous animals and though they can be trained to some extent, the ultimately remain wild animals capable of doing extensive harm to people who aren't equipped to handle them.

It seems illogical to have large uncontrollable animals in houses with people.

Dogs can be better domesticated than cats period. Cats are animals of prey, they are usually nocturnal, and natural hunters. I could not even imagine wanting a cat the size of a , lynx, bobcat, mountain lion, etc.. in my home.
