Why don't you just take a week holiday and try to schedule your interviews around this.

The most honest way would be to schedule your interviews for the same week and take annual leave. I would probably book no more than 2 per day - 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.

Depending on the field you work in some prospective employers will meet you for an interview early morning and late afternoon. If you really have no annual leave left this is probably the best arrangement.

You do not need to explain to your current employer why you are taking annual leave. In case they ask you just have to tell them you have no plans and just intend to spend some time around the house/do a spot of retail therapy/decorating etc.

This also bodes well in an interview to as I have been asked before "where does your employer think you are today?" It is always best to answer this by saying you are on annual leave or you have the day off because your taking your car to the garage later on or something similar!

Good luck with the job hunt!

I usually choose just one or two jobs I am interested in - after all,, you don't need loads of jobs ! so bae a bit selective as you can't expect your current employer to gracefully give you loads of free time off, although they do have a responsibility to let you have some time off for interviews - in practise this is not always the case, though!
I like the above idea of a week off, then you can apply yourself to your phone calls interviews, etc without offending anyone.
Best thing to do is quietly go see you current boss and honestly tell him that you are applying and what for. They will need to give a reference for you and need to know anyway. Don't phone sick, as they do put this on your reference!

My preferred way to do it would be to take holiday, but then you may not have any left to take, or if part way through the year you may go over your pro-rata allowance.

if this isn't the case, most companies who are interviewing for positions understand the dilemma, and will be happy to schedule an interview outside normal working hours - especially if they think you are worth it.

Usually I take either a half or whole days holiday. On the odd occasion I've taken a longer lunch break. Just be honest with your boss.

Try and book holiday if possible and for a one off excuse say you have head lice and need the morning off while you treat it(that way you don't have to try and sound sick when you phone in)
