Could be lots of things, From your sound drivers to the settings in the control panel.

Do you hear other sounds? or is it just real player?

Go to the control panel and X2click the sound icon, then click the audio tab, make sure its set to your sound device. ( there is probably a setting in real player where you can change the setting for real player in the same mannor.)

i would check the speaker settings, in control panel.. if that is okay. then

Do you get sound out of your speakers any other times? if not re-install the drivers for the sound card.

If you do, then i would check with the real player, maybe its a curropt download.

check your speakers, they might be bad and you can do that by using a headset. If that is not, then it's your sound card is bad.
You can also check your volum control by going to control panel then click on your sound and make sure that non of the mute is on

check all necessary codecs are properly installed or not, if installed then check audio drivers are properly installed or not, if installed then it may be a software problem, try to reinstall it of finally it may be a file problem, perhaps it doesn't have audio embedded in it.
