It's a guitar....if you didn't already know that. I think they are made from metal but not sure, but the really different thing about them is that the back is belly-shaped, not flat.

Dobro is a generic name for a resonator guitar. Although a dobro is a guitar in its own right being a reso guitar made by the Dopyera brothers ( not sure of the spelling ) Dobro being their tradename.

hi, a Dobro is a brand name for a resonator type guitar. These are normally all chrome/nickel plated guitars similar in shape to an acoustic though with loads more sound holes.

Some are natural wood with plated areas on the face.

A Dobro is an old guitar that appears to have large metallic disc on the body. Sometimes they whole body is metallic. They usually have 2 smaller discs on either size of the neck.

ok, previous answers are close but not on the nail. a dobro is a guitar made out of metal ( no wood ) and has a resonating panel instead of a hole like on acoustic guitars. I wouldn't say it's a C/W instrument. as they are used on loads of different stuff.

It's known technically as a "Resonator" guitar. It has something like a speaker cone inside which is connected to the bridge. It is shaped like any other acoustic guitar, but the front is usually shiny metal and it has a decorative grill of some sort over the resonating cone. It makes a twangy tone compared to a guitar, a little like a banjo.
