There are liars, cheaters and hypocrites in both parties and Newt is only one among many. To search for an honest politician is like searching for a chaste harlot. It ain't goin' to happen!

P.S. Now the Republicans are saying they were not hypocritical when they impeached Clinton because his offense was perjury and not adultery. B.S.! The entire premise for their attack of Clinton was on morality and that's how they were able to get Bush elected on the family value label.

With Gingrich's (and Giuliani's) adulterous affairs laid bare, Ted Haggard gay escapades discovered and Mark Foley sexual abuse of underage male staffers revealed, the Republicans will be hard pressed in 08 to run under the same banner again. But they'll find some other fig leaf to hide behind, that's for sure! Homeland security anyone?

You seem to have a little OCD thing going on there. It appears you're obsessed with hatred for Gingrich. Are you jealous? Is this a political hack job?
Take a breath once in a while and listen to yourself.
If I'm an adulterer does that mean you can't be a criminal? Should Clinton not have been prosecuted for his crimes?
Is perfection a prerequisite for prosecutors, politicians, policemen?
It might not hurt to give the other guy the break that you'd like to have if you were not perfect.

hahaha... remember when larry flint asked for any information about other politicians affairs after the impeachment... and ALL OF A SUDDEN all the Republicans were like... "we don't want to remove Clinton from office, we're just going to let this thing die"

when someone started to do the same thing they had done to them... they KNEW the charade was up... that's one reason Clinton had such high approval ratings near the end... because most people thought it was a witch hunt that would have beared the same response from almost any other congressman in office at the time... they all would have lied... all got impeached...

people forget that now..

Well, the question of whether Slick Willy was getting his knob polished or not should NEVER have even been asked in the first place; that is really something that should NOT have been asked by those who are not above reproach themselves, and given Newt's past with female students... a number of them that brought up charges of sex for grades against him.... Newt didn't answer the question (under oath or otherwise)... so, he did not "perjure" himself...

Oh, for the record, adultery IS INDEED a crime, a misdemeanor, not enforced in most states (it is a misdemeanor in NYC but that did't stop Republic-Fuhrer Giuliani, then Mayor of NYC, an attorney and former Attorney General, from committing adultery and abandoning his wife); but, Cons shamelessly think they are above the laws and ethics they impose on others.

Sheesh, one would think that Slick Willy was the only President in history or elected official to ever poke his weiner where it didn't belong...!

Don't forget Henry Hyde, he was the lead guy in the House tasked with impeaching Clinton. He also had an affair and the hypocrite kept up the impeachment process even after he was exposed. Jerk.

No. President Clinton was not impeached for having an affair. President Clinton was impeached for using pergery as a means to violate the civil rights of an American woman, and for failing in his oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.

He was impeached for lying under oath about the extent of his of proclivities with subordinates while being sued for sexual harrasment by a former subordinate. Having an affair with Monica Lewinsky was not a crime. Commiting pergey was, and was a "high crime," as it is an attempt to undermine another person's right to a fair hearing of their grevences in a Court.

Mr. Gingrich should not have had an affair, and President CLinton was a generally good President. But his crime was much more severe than Gingrich's. GIngrich did not attempt to undermine a woman's right to a fair hearing when she attempted to seek out protection for her right to safety from sexual violation through coersion.

President Clinton was so accused, and admitted as much by confessing that he did perger himself in regard to her case, and that while being elected to be the nation's chief defender of the document that attests to those rights.

Incidently, it does not matter if the woman sueing him was lying or telling the truth. By him purposely introducing false information into her court case through pergery, he was taking away her right to be fairly heard.

Yes, Newt "screwed" up. It was well-known back during the Clinton days that Newt was having marital problems. It just never came out about him having an affair. He asked for a divorce from his FIRST wife while she was in her sick bed with cancer while in the hospital. He ended up marrying the woman he had the affair with. Check out Giuliani's past, too, if you haven't already. While he was NYC mayor, he and his wife were still married and living in Gracie Mansion. He wanted his mistress to move in, but his wife wouldn't move out. Eventually they got their divorce & he married (his present wife) his mistress. It all goes to show everyone that no one is perfect, and we can't expect perfection from anyone. No one can rise above an imperfect character. If we continue to make consenual sex between adults an issue in elections, we may have to go find some candidates that are totally celebate. That most likely will never happen.

Clinton was not impeached for having an affair. If Congress could do that, they would have spent all eight years on just impeaching the guy, and STILL wouldn't have covered all of his affairs.

So that he will not be alone when his is found out. Everyone is involved and his is not any worse than the one who was the president. Maybe the president cannot do it but the common people can. This is the opposite to that customarily belief that government official can do wrong but not the subject. They have to have some Chinese wisdom before they put president into trouble when Chinese was ruled by monarch.

No. You don't seem to grasp a simple concept here:

If Gingrich had committed Perjury while impeaching Clinton, then yes you could say he was hypocritical.

But Newt did not perjur himself.
