Since you have tried prune juice I would suggest two things along with get the child to the doctor. One being the baby food jar of prunes themselves. Two try to with your pinkie finger, insert a little Vaseline up inside the rectum. The child will not enjoy this but it will aid in it sliding out. But and I stress But, if you fell something touch your finger as in, a stool do Not push on it, you can force it up farther. Also never insert your finger past the first knuckle, you don't want to damage the colon and rectum.
Also apple juice has a lot of acid in it and will cause gas and bloating. I would never use that in such cases. My two children suffered from colic and apple juice was a definite no no.

Awww the poor thing my little girl is the same way. I've tried prune juice, have you tried suppositories? Take him to the doctor they will give you some ideas of how to help it they may even give you lacatives that are safe for the baby or it may be the milk if you are bottle feeding.

Been there and the only thing that really worked was Fleet Child Suppositories, since he is only four months which is the same age as my daughter was when this happened to us break it in half, lube your finger with petroleum jelly, and stick it just far enough in to where you can't see it anymore. Within 15 minutes to 1 hour you should see results. It will look a little runny but that is only because the suppository has disintegrated leaving it looking kind of like mucus.

The health nurse told me to try 1 teaspoon of brown sugar with 30 mls of cooled boiled water. I ended up having to give it to my baby 4 times over 24 hours and it really worked. If it comes back again, like it did with my 3 month old, then if you are formula feeding you might need to change to a formula with less iron. But really do try the brown sugar, it works. Good luck

Is the bowel area hard? I assume you gave him all his milk so he should have enough fluids especially if you are giving him prune juice. Try gently massaging his bowel area clockwise, we found that worked for us. Our baby screamed bloody murder too so be very gentle.
If that doesn't work, go to the doctor, maybe it's something more serious.

Contact your doctor. Infants digestive systems are not equipped to handle anything other than water, breast milk or formula. Hope this helps.
