There is a test called the Keirsey Temperment sorter, which is very commonly used these days. It's very helpful! It tells you all about yourself, and that's great, but it also tells you what sort of jobs you'd be good at. It's incredibly accurate too.
There is a book called TypeTalk that uses this too, and some people find this book easier to understand.
You can probably go to your nearest library and find a book on it - ask a librarian. It's also called the MBTI, Meyers-Briggs Temperment Indicator.
Also the local city college here gives students this exam and I'm sure it's free. Good luck!

There isn't necessarily any specific career that is 'meant' for you. Try finding an aptitude test or other test that tells you what you might be good at. Then compare the results it gives you with things that you have an interest in. I think that if you pursue a career that deals with something you are interested in, and put forth the effort to make it happen - you could be almost anything and be successful.

Been there, done that and still learning.
First, find out who you are. What's your personality? What are your talents? What do you love to do? Can you turn that into a career option?
While you have the time, research and narrow down to several possible options, maybe five.
Ask around with those who are already in that profession. Investigate and find out what you can because this opportunity is the only chance you'll have to do that for a long while.
The most important thing is not to fear making mistakes. You can't avoid them anyway so make a few. Mistakes make you better as you learn from them. And ultimately, success is being the best that you can be, not so much fame or fortune.
Godspeed, girl.

I have that same problem. My parents forced me to go to college right out of high school. I didn't know what I wanted to pursue and I ended up wasting 2 years of my life in college. It was a waste of time and money. Then I ended up going to a business college...which was another waste of time and an even bigger waste of money. I can not find a job anywhere and I think i will end up working at Captain D's. I've thought about going back to school again but I'm afraid it will be the same scenario all over again. I suggest finding yourself a career counselor. I wish I would have done that when I was in school cause it would have saved a lot of trouble.
On a side note going to college doesn't always make you a success.

i had the same question after high school. I joined the military to save money for college and try to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. After the military, it was clear I wanted to become a nurse. Just follow your heart. If you like doing something then that should be a big clue of what you want to do.
