Its good if thats what they want to do. Maybe they are trying to reach a larger fan base. But this shouldn't be the only reason they do it. I don't like when the song is written in one language then translated into another. That sucks!

Lot of rock or metal bands from any countries which not use english language as their main language try to get what they want in their career as a band. The one way to do it is sing in english language, cause the most people can understand this language. So people can listen to the band and ppl do understand what they sing. And other reason is they trying to spread their wings to other countries in a major label. So they have to make a major label get interesting to them .
And for myself, that's are a very good thing to any bands. And i never care in what language, as long as it metal music then i will love it. Metal music effect is much more beyond the language.

Pro-Pain moved to Germany to learn how to do it right. In Flames is from Sweden. Sepultura is from Brazil. These are all great metal bands and there are 100's more of the same calliber. So if your saying bands from other countrys cant do it as well you better do some homework and you will find they do it best. I am a die hard music buff that thrives on metal and im no youngster to this game. Just check out my user name. Oh and I will be 50 this year. "PEACE"

I love the internationality of music. You can say the same image in any language. We're all in the same gang.
Lots of international music background for rock. My first CD ever bought was by the Scorpions (Germany). Last was the Greatest Hits of Joe Cocker (England). Love watching videos by Shakira (Colombia). Europe and Nena are also good rock acts from the 80's, thanks above me. Who remembers Gorky Park (Russia), Golden Earring (Netherlands), Kingdom Come (Germany) and of course the Sex Pistols (England).
Nowadays, it seems there's a backlash for Rammstein and some of the other solid German metal acts. Most smaller name 80's metal/hair bands/artists are going to Italy or Germany in the 21st century to release albums now. Dragonforce these days is like Billy Ray Cyrus from his Achy Breaky Heart moment.

The reason they are singing in English is they will sell more c.ds that way .
would you buy a song in another language if you could not understand it ??
That is the reason why ABBA sang in English when they won the Euro contest for Waterloo
they had tried the previous year in their own language and got no where it is a known fact in the music business english languages sell better and also the euro contest announce every thing in english and french as that is the second most language people understand

It's the language of Rock and Roll. Rock and roll was founded in the UK and America. Besides, who do you think those bands are influenced by? They are citing Iron Maiden, Metallica, Sabbath, Pantera, GNR, etc. Of COURSE they are going to sing in English.
Don't forget the biggest foreign english language rocker offenders... the Danes! Roskilde Festival turned em all English and they are starting to reap the mainstream rewards now.

I love Lordi from Finland and it was so awesome that they won Eurovision last year, wooohooooo!!!!! By the way I don't usually watch Eurovision, I only watched it last year knowing Lordi were playing, total bonus that they won.
Music is just another medium for people to get their thoughts/feelings/experiences accross to others, who cares if they are foreign singing in English as long as they are good.
Rock on!

Usually it doesnt work out. They tend to sound dorky. But every once in a while one will make it through and will sound kinda cool even with their accent. ... Example: think of 99 baloons (German I think) and Europe (not sure what country) from the 80's. Remember them?
