How to communicate with companies for the placement of students of college?

please provide a guideline for how to communicate with the companies for the placement of students in the college. i am a member of placement cell of my college.since we are going to organise a placement for our first batch., we have little knowledge regarding this.

Just thru the college letter head, contact the Recruitment cell of the companies, make a short and crisp report of your college's records in the area of university rankings, pass %, sports & other social activities, etc., Make some comparision if possible, show your growth rate. This will do.
