why not do a picnic instead of the conventional restaurant? pack up some cheese and fruit, crusty bread and salami and a bottle of sparkling cider. Go for a nice drive and spread out the goods. You'll have quiet time to get to know each other. This is alot cheaper than dining out and shows you put thought into the date

Ask her what kind of food she likes and go from there. If you don't know what she likes, then pick a place with a large variety of food. I can just imagine how akward it would be if your date didn't like anything on the menu!

I saw someone reccommend Olive Garden above. Pretty inexpensive, has variety, and is pretty fancy but still casual. Good luck and enjoy your date :)

Stick with a family restaurant like Bennigans, Olive Garden or Applebees. Safe, not too expensive but a decent variety of food so you can see what they like to eat. Good Luck

I'd stay away from TGIFriday, Olive Garden, and Cheesecake Factory type restaurants. Go for sushi, Chinese, or Vietnamese.

My fiance took me to a fondue place....it was great b/c it is a long process of eating so we got to really know each other on our first date.

If you don't know where to go, then ask your date. She will tell you. Usually pasta or burgers are pretty safe.
