The opposite of a word equation! An equation that contains the formulae of the chemicals, and not words.

its an equation that involves formula
e.g this is an equation : 1+2=3
but inchemistry a formula equation is as follows
Mg+O=MgO
this formula involves 2 element and as it is a formula equation the formula is written with yhe formula of the elements involved
in this case it is magnesium+oxygen=magnesium oxide...by the way this is a word equation
