a graphic card is simply hardware that allows you to see whats on your hard drive on a monitor. the monitor connects to the graphic card, the graphic card is connected to a motherboard and the hard drive is connected to the motherboard as well. so the hard drive contents shoots through the motherboard over to the graphics card up the monitor cable and appears on the screen.

a graphic card is the video card. without it your monitor is useless you won't be able to see what you're doing and your pc won't boot up.
