Simon should be done for the season, playoffs included. You just cant do that. It was as bad as McSorley's incident and almost just as bad as Bertuzzi's. The NHL is a joke in the sports world for only giving a 5 minute major for fighting, if you dont take a hard stance on an incident like this, it will fall further out of the interests of the sporting world. Not the type of media attention you want for this league.

He got a match penalty for intent to injure, and since a match penalty is an automatic ejection, yes that's right. I think anytime a player gets a match penalty in a game there is a suspension with it, but it's up to the league for how long. Marty McSorely got the rest of the season for his, Ron Hextall got 8 games I believe, and Dale Hunter got 21 games. I think Chris Simon will get at least 15, since that's how many games the Islanders have left.

I've followed Chris Simon's career off and on since '96. he's a good enforcer who has some offensive talent (or did have). but Simon has always come across as a guy who can dish it out but can't take it. remember he was the one offended that another player used a racial epithet (he's of indian decent) to goad him into a fight once. players will say whatever it takes to get the fight going - just look at the scrums around a goal after the whistle stops play. he's been in trouble MANY times before for HIS dirty play. he who lives by the sword quite often dies by the sword. and he has no reason whatsoever to freak out after getting hit cleanly. yeah he should've been ejected from the game... and more is coming... and it'll be deserving...

He did get ejected from the game. He received a 5 minute major for intent to injure and was kicked from the game. He will be receiving a suspension early friday morning. It was a very ugly play and should get 10-15 games.

He was ejected from the game (or given a game misconduct, to use the hockey term). He is already under an "indefinite" suspension from the league while they consider their ruling. He should be suspended, and it should be a substantial one.

i didn't see the game but watched the highlights this morning on espn and he deserved getting ejected from the game and will probally get suspended.i think all the heat the commissioner has taken lately may have opened his eyes a little bit.things like that should not be tolerated.they didn't let emery get away with it and it should be the same with simon.they need to crack down on things like that.

Suspended indefinitely, baby! and well deserved. In addition to sending a message about dirty penalties, the league needs to finally send a message this season that it is no longer open season on any and all Rangers.

there is no doubt he should have got ejected, he was using his stick as a weapon and i won't be surprised if he is suspended for the rest of the season, at least that's what i think should happen.

too bad that he can't control his temper... that was a cheap shot and could have severely damaged or even killed the player.. we know it wasn't intentional but a professional player should be able to keep his anger intact and not lose control.. he should be banned from the game indefinitely until he can prove he has taken the proper measures in controlling his anger..

ummm...ya...he wrapped his stick around an opponents throat...if I'm the league I make an example of him and give him at least an entire season, if for no other reason to quiet people that believe hockey's punishments are not heavy enough to deter this behavior, fighting is part of the game, barbarically wrapping your stick around someone is not...watching that about made me sick.
