Ok, i had a car accident in Dec. I was t-boned sort of, it hit my left passenger side tire and impacted all the way down my passenger side door. It totaled out my car. I took it to be looked at. They guy said, "Yup, it's totaled" i asked him, "Is it all body...i mean can i drive it? Is the axle broken?" He said i have a oil leak ( which i knew about and i keep a very close eye on) and other than that it looked fine besides the body damage. I have been driving it for about a month now, today when i left work i turned the wheel almost all the way and it started knocking or thumping when i turned it, kinda felt like i had a flat tire. I checked it, the tires were fine. I turned the wheel towards the other direction and drove in a circle in the parking lot, it made the knocking again. I can feel the knocking not jsut hear it. Can anyone help tell me what could be wrong? ( my alignment is off from the wreck, i haven't fix it yet cause the tires are new i know i need to)

If it's front wheel drive, it's more than likely the CV joints that were damaged in the accident and causing the knocking sound. Have them check it out and replaced if faulty.

OK if your car is totaled due to body damage chances are there is other damage as well because a newer car does not have a frame the body acts as the cars frame the knocking you are hearing and the way you say the car feels when driving leads me to suspect the CV joint was damaged as well as some steering parts i would recommend not putting money into it even though i am sure you are attached to the car the money spent on fixing it just is not worth the headaches later on

Yeah, the outer CV on that side.A cv will cost you about $35, or the whole 1/2 shaft can be replaced for under $100.That's parts only, not labor. Good Luck

sounds like it could be cv joints.it is ok to drive but dont leave it too long as it costs heaps more to fix.I had the same problem with my magna and left it until i went to drive the car and bang i went nowhere. They r alot cheaper to fix b4 the go altogether.Personally i would take it to a mechanic as it could be an axle problem

its a cv joint.dont mean to run down your car,but you better get another car, because if the insurance co.totaled it,then it means it not safe for the road.
